Seeking a Dependable Vehicle !!

by L.L.
(Salinas, Ecuador area)

We are beginning the search for dependable automatic transmission transportation.

Some of the "wish list" criteria include:
Automatic Transmission - Air Conditioning - Seating for 6 or more - Clear Title and clean documents and maintenance records - Seats that fold down to be able to haul large objects and for ease of loading - Gently used and well maintained - Easy to drive - Good tires - clean interior - prefer NON-smoker vehicle - Our Spanish is not wonderful yet, but we do have a great friend who can speak fluent Spanish for our questions and communications ..

AFTER THE QUAKE
by: L.L.

Richard ...
There are some areas up on the coast that were devastated it is true ... and in some areas travel in problematic ....

In the Salinas area there was not any damage to the roads in the close regions ... and most damage was minor ... we are involved through the church and private groups ... of still sending supplies and helpers to the areas hit the hardest .. and still struggling to start the rebuilding process .. but for anyone thinking about NOT being in Ecuador ... don't hesitate to come to Salinas ... business has been slow ... and tourist have stayed away because of reports of the Earthquake .. and the families and businesses of Salinas are suffering for lack of business ... so come to Salinas .. come to Ecuador .. and share time with some of the most lovely, gentle and kind people in the world ... Enjoy the Adventure .. !!!

Earthquake damage
by: Richard

Since the earthquake hit right in the Salinas area and north, what is the damage to highways, housing, power generation, water supply and food supply?

I"m really interested in moving to Ecuador but I suspect now that a lot of the infrastructure is damaged and there is probably a lot of social problems like higher crime and homelessness.

Any comments from anyone?
Richard (still in the USA)
