I am a 62 y.o. female and thinking of retiring in Cuenca. I would like to travel there this year and check things out but don't feel comfortable going alone. Anybody else in this situation and interested in communicating about a trip? I am physically active and would like to do hiking and site seeing while checking out the culture.

If this sounds interesting. Please post your email address. Thanks!

moving to cuenca
by: mark

My wife and I are going to Ecuador in August, We will be going to Cuenca to look for a rental that will be for long term. We want to live where the expats live. We also want to go to Salinas for a few days while we are there we like the beach. We are moving there and want to rent before we leave so that we have somewhere to live when we come back. We have looked online and have spoken with an agent hope to find more agents before we go so their will be a few places to choose from. I have some good info on what to do but like anything you do something changes. My wife and I are 60 so we are a little worried but we are determined to move there.

MY wife and I are going to Ecuador in August we will be going to Cuenca. we have never been there but we are looking to move there for good this year. We want to visit Salinas also we want to see how much it will be to live on the beach. We have contacted some rental agents there in both towns, but we are still looking for someone to show us where the expats live. WE will be staying for 2 weeks and want to rent a place for long term before we leave there.

Traveling single works too!
by: Janet

I am a single 59 yr old. I traveled sola to Ecuador for 2 wks last March and 1 month last summer: first unaccompanied trips in my life and deliberately so since I planned to move alone. I met many wonderful people, saw much of the country, did lots of hiking and horseback riding. The ex pat community in Cuenca is very welcoming, I also met people on buses, in restaurants, in hostels and hotels. I tried to be prudent and felt safe. I am moving to Cuenca in April! Stay in touch. I might even have rooms to let one day soon.

Cuenca here I come!
by: Anonymous

To all that are interested in Cuenca, please contact me directly by bwdmus1953@yahoo.com.
I have done my research, no snakes, no Mosquitos , but I will get my malaria shot anyway., no snow, culture abounds, opportunities to volunteer, and some brave people that have forged ahead of me!
June is when I want to be there, and I will stay a month to really explore the areas of the city.
Once school is out, if the snow doesn't cause major flooding again, I'm off for my adventure.
Get in contact all!

I'm thinking of traveling there too!
by: Babette

I read your comment today and thought that I probably would have written the exact same request
if I was really sure of where I was headed. Since Ecuador is my first priority as a new destination, I would say I'm single, 62 in April, and able to go away this summer for a week or two also. I would much prefer to travel with someone, so lets talk!
Thanks for putting yourself out there.
Sincerely, Babette babzline@comcast.net

Ambitious
by: Tom and Sara

We are still looking to rent our house out here in Las Cruces, NM and will need to store our furniture in a unit on the lot. While many things are lined up deadlines are still cloudy. We were thinking more toward the end of the year. We have a friend coming in from India in a few months and hope he might help organize our plans more.

Thinking the same thing...
by: Tom and Sara

Sara and I are thinking the same thing. She is 70 and I 59 and both love travel. Trying to leave this year, if we can rent our house out for a year. I was down in Ecuador in 1984 for a few months and loved it. Keep us posted as who knows what kind of travel and rentals could pop up to share/
