Testimonials

Hi Dixie, It's me again.  I haven't given up hope of relocating to Ecuador.  I located contact information for a pharmacy /hospital in Quito I have contacted all of the individuals listed in hopes of finding out if my pain medication is in fact available.  I again wanted to thank you and John for taking time out of your busy schedule to research this much needed information.  I am so sorry that this individual "American" is behaving so despicably. It makes me embarrassed as an American to be associated with someone like this. When I hear a horror stories like this it makes me feel the need to apologize for their behavior.  You have been totally upfront and honest with what is available and wanting to help anyone with an interest to relocate.  I am hoping to get good news and at that time will be requesting your assistance in showing me around in hopes of purchasing in Ecuador.  GOD Bless, I am thoroughly enjoying reading about the adventures you and John are having in Ecuador.  Su - USA

Hey, Dixie, my wife Cynthia & I are so glad we found your website.  We
have been wanting to leave the US for awhile and are super-excited to have
stumbled upon Cuenca as a destination.  It seems to be absolutely everything
we've been searching for.

Hi Dixie,

I surely didn't unsubscribe from your site and didn't have

any intention to do that! May be there occured some mistake?

I love your Retire in Ecuador and moreover I do like your style

of describing the events, When reading your issues I feel as if

I read a letter from a friend.

So, please tell me what to do - should I subscribe again ?

Hope we can together  solve the problem and I will be able

to receive your issues!

Kind regards, Lena

“Most business is done by word of mouth, whether it is real estate or not, so getting to know the locals is a good idea. But better yet, find a local you trust and who trusts you and then let them do the negotiating for you since there are "local" prices and "gringo" prices on just about everything. Better yet, contact John & Dixie at http://www.retire-in-ecuador.com. They are expats and wonderful people who help other expats not only find property out there for sale or rent, they hold your hand through the transactions to make sure any "loopholes" aren't overlooked to the best of their ability. They are already hooked up with the locals, too. Frankie and I loved Ecuador and plan to move asap to Cuenca, but we still have to liquidate our assets here in the states to do it.   Ursula” USA

“Hi Dixie and John,

Just spent some time inside your beautiful site.

Love the place, wow what a great find...

My brother travels a lot into the mining areas of Central America, he is just on his way back from Peru as we speak.

His photos remind me of different areas here in Aussie land. Your photos remind me a little of Q'ld's tropic areas, well just a bit.

I love the idea of retiring in an area that will basically keep me enjoying life until I am over 100 (if I eat, play and be merry the right way) Would love to put you onto my Interesting Places---Visit America, page.

www.family-getaways-melbourne.com

I am sure that as my site moves on the traffic that it builds will love to read up and investigate the beautiful places that you have discovered.

By the way, when you buy that 25 acre property I will rent the Maid quarters....or barter my skills for the privilege.

Let me know regards the link.

Till then have fun.

Regards

Marylyn(SuperNan)” Australia

“Dear John and Dixie, I have enjoyed your web site and stories. Meri and I have also traveled to Ecuador in November 2008 to verify the stories that a couple could live on $600 per month. Indeed we met several doing that.

We wanted the coastal area due to lifestyle and health reasons that did not fit the mountain areas.

We purchased property North of Bahia , near Canoa and are having a home built. We are selling our home in Alabama and preparing to move in late February or March. Donald / USA”

“Dear Dixie,

Feliz Navidad to you too!

I am fascinated by your story, experiencing your adventures without the extreme adrenaline! After all your experiences, you can set up an Immigrants Guidance Office, or something similar, to save people time money and worry.

I can see you enjoying your discoveries!

“HELLO DIXIE AND JOHN,

I HAVE TO CONGRATULATE YOU FOR THE NICE NARRATION OF ADVENTURES AROUND ECUADOR AND THE REST OF THE WORLD.

MY NAME IS GUSTAVO, AND I RECENTLY MOVED BACK TO ECUADOR.  I HAVE BEEN A RESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES FOR MANY YEARS AND NOW WITH MY WIFE DECIDED TO RETIRE IN ECUADOR.

WE ARE NOW IN QUITO ENJOYING THE WEATHER, THE NICE VIEWS OF THE MOUNTAINS AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY.  MY TWO SMALL DAUGHTERS STARTED SCHOOL THREE WEEKS AGO AND ARE ENJOYING IT VERY MUCH.

IF I CAN BE OF ANY ASSISTANCE, LET ME KNOW, AND IN YOUR NEXT VISIT TO QUITO GIVE ME A CALL OR STOP BY TO SAY HELLO. MY OFFICE IS LOCATED IN THE NORTH SIDE OF THE CITY AND NOT DIFFICULT TO FIND.

GOOD LUCK,

Gustavo” Quito

“Dear John & Dixie,

Firstly, I want to say thank you for creating your website. I finally found a portal that validated everything that we have reading and researching about the potential to move to Ecuador. Carl” USA

“dixie,

best of luck to you and your husband on  your journey.  i read all your e-mails w/great interest.  ecuador sounds terrific and friend of mine has visited often and will probably move from here in virginia to either quito or to san miguel, mx.  i've always loved to travel and have moved often in my life due to either father's or husband's career.  thought i'd retire in mexico, but this seems unlikely now since 10 years after a life-saving lung transplant plus the loss of my husband, i doubt i could handle it alone.  medical needs are enormous bc of the xplant, and side effects of 10 years of drugs have left me with a necessarily quieter life.  darn!  however, i am grateful to still be here on this earth.  sooooooo, more power to you.  enjoy yourselves and, as the song goes, "live like you're dying."

best,

lolly”

Hola Dixie,
I'm so glad I signed up with your site! I have gotten some extremely useful
information already from reading your previous articles. Thank you. You
sound like the kind of people my husband and I would love to meet when we
get in town!
