Bringing Pets into Ecuador

We have not done this ourselves but many expats do bring their pets to Ecuador.  I have heard that cats and dogs must be vaccinated at least sixty days before departure against various diseases.  They also require you to have a Veterinary certificate signed and accredited by a Veterinarian in the country where you are travelling from.

As like any other document you present in Ecuador the certificate must be translated into Spanish and the Veterinarian who signs must obtain to have the certificate notarized and then you must have the document apostiled.

I found the above information at Pettravel.com but you may also wish to get some advice from the airline you are travelling with on what their requirements may be.

This website also advises that you can download the Immigration forms for your pet for any country in the world from their site.  I checked out Ecuador and see that you are required to pay a $7.50 fee before they email you the required forms.  If anyone decides to use their service let us know how you went.
