Married and purchasing property in Ecuador

Is it true that if married and purchasing property in Ecuador, that both husband and wife's name must be on the title? Or can one purchase property without the putting the other spouses name on the title?
It is not necessary to have both names on the purchased property but if something would happen to one of you then the other spouse would receive half of the sale and then the other half would go to the children of the marriage. It would be best to seek advice from an attorney as these laws change regularly and are quite complex. A will may be of help but again consult an attorney in Ecuador as the laws are different than what you may be used to.
