Does anybody know an answer to this question...........

Hi! My name is Marian. I will be relocating to Quito in March 2014 and consider bringing my furniture and housewares in a container. Previously I read from expat blogs that refrigerators were not allowed in the shipment. Is this true? Or maybe the rule existed and now it has changed. Please let me know what you know about this. Thank you, appreciate it!

Appliances in Ecuador
by: Neal

Appliances are rather expensive Ecuador, but shipping your own may not be the best answer. Have you checked the cost of the same refer in Ecuador? Do your homework. Anything you can do to simplify the move may well worth it in the long run.

Is it worth it?
by: Anonymous

it is the old refrigerators that the antifreeze is toxic.

I brought a freezer and refrigerator and they never asked me.

Bringing in shipment is expensive and costly, if you are attached to the items, bring them in. if not buy new.
You have to go to Guaquail to claim and there is a lot of theft there. If you have a shipping agent that can get you thru Cuena its better, although you have to live there to get it thru, my agent gave a address in cuenca when i brought my container in
