Inca Real Hotel and Akalarre Cafe Restaurant

The beauty of living in such a wonderful city such as Cuenca, is that there are always new and interesting discoveries.  As you walk along the cobbled streets and look through doorways and see the beautiful courtyards which were once the centre of many of fine colonial home. Many of these homes have now been turned into hosteria/hotels and restaurants.

One such beautiful colonial 19th century home which has been lovingly restored is the Hotel Inca Real.  In 1991 following very strict rules and regulations the house was restored to preserve the original home.  All this was done even before Cuenca became a Cultural Heritage City.

Last week General Manager Tania Sarmiento invited me to see this beautiful Hotel. This used to be Tania’s family home and it is also where she grew up with her family.  Her Father, now retired still comes into the city each day to have coffee with friends in the attached restaurant.

Why not make this your home away from home when you come and visit us in Cuenca.  All rooms face out to the courtyard, which is so common in the old colonial homes.  Rates for rooms are very reasonable starting at $39 for a single room, $50 for a double room,$65 suite and $125 for a family suite per night.  Breakfast is included in these prices
.

A delicious buffet breakfast is served each morning in the courtyard of the Hotel.  For the breakfast menu click here.

The Inca Real Hotel is located within walking distance from the Parque Cauldron (main square of Cuenca) and many museums, galleries, stores and restaurants.

After a day of site seeing come and relax at the Akelarre Cafe restaurant which complements the Hotel and is open for lunch and dinner.

Inigo Sagarna is Tania’s husband who owns and operates the Akelarre Café.  Inigo will be happy to serve you one of their special Spanish Tapas or choose from a wide selection of dishes from the Menu.  After having looked through the menu I think we need to visit at least once a week to try out the wonderful delicious dishes.  CLICK HERE to see a preview of the Akelarre Menu.

The atmosphere is very inviting and it is a great place to meet friends over a beverage of your choice. Inigo has lived in France for many years so I am sure you will see a hint of France in the décor.

Tania and Inigo both speak English, Spanish and French.  Make sure you say hello to Tania and Inigo and I am sure you will be very well looked after.
